Tips for Self-directed Language Study

The Multilanguage Seminar is WISLI’s first self-directed language course. The program allows students to discover what manner of language learning works best for them, rather than relying on a particular textbook or trying to mesh with an instructor’s teaching style. Students taking part in the course will tailor their own learning to focus on the aspects of language use that are most relevant to their own goals. For example, students hoping to conduct research interviews in their target language might dedicate time to speaking and listening over written skills. Students will develop skills and techniques to continue learning their language on their own long after the summer, becoming life-long learners.
