The Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) Program is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State with funding provided by the U.S. Government. It is supported in its implementation by American Councils for International Education. Read more about the CLS program here: https://clscholarship.org/ The Program Officer position reports to the CLS Program Manager and is responsible for program administration and logistics, communication with program participants and partnering institutions in Jordan, Morocco, and Oman providing Arabic immersion language programs and in Egypt providing Arabic virtual language programs. Each summer, the CLS program supports 500 American students per year to learn 13 languages critical to America’s engagement with the world. Over 400 of these students study abroad for eight to ten weeks during the summer, while others engage in virtual language learning through the CLS Spark initiative.
